Number of paid and unpaid shares – shareholding info in Kudocs
What are the columns for partly paid and unpaid shares in the shareholder info section in Kudocs? As well as showing the number of shares a shareholder owns, it is also important to keep track of the number of shares that are partly paid or unpaid – as these are liabilities of the shareholder to the company. If you issue shares using Kudocs, the system will require you to specify if those shares were fully paid, partly paid or unpaid. That information is available in the share transaction summary and can be seen on the shareholder page – in the ‘shareholding info’ box. However, Kudocs does not automatically update these figures in the shareholding info box because: (i) the shareholder may have shares that pre-date the company’s use of Kudocs and Kudocs does not know the payment status of those shares; and/or (ii) the payment status of shares can change – they can be issued unpaid, but then the shareholder pays for them later. Kudocs allows you to edit the number of shares partly paid or unpaid to reflect this.
Why is Kudocs showing 0 shares partly paid or 0 shares unpaid when shares have been issued in Kudocs that are partly paid or unpaid? While Kudocs has a record of the payment status of shares issued in Kudocs, it does not have any information about shares that were issued before the company started using Kudocs. Therefore Kudocs will show you the total number recorded as partly paid or unpaid in Kudocs, but you have the ability to enter the correct number to reflect the actual figure. Kudocs defaults to 0 until you amend this number.
How do I update the number of shares partly paid or unpaid? Very easily. Just click on {Edit shareholder info} and you will be able to see the current number of partly paid and unpaid shares, what information Kudocs has in the transaction registers and be able to manually amend these figures.
Will a share certificate generated by Kudocs include details of the payment status of the shares? Yes. When you generate a share certificate using Kudocs, the payment status of those shares will be covered in the share certificate. This depends on what process you are using to generate the share certificate and if the shareholder has shares in the same class but with different payment statuses (e.g. some fully paid and some unpaid).
