Edit share class details
How can I edit the details of an existing share class? It is quick and easy to edit the details of an existing share class in Kudocs – for example to correct an administrative error like a typo in the share class particulars, or if the voting rights have not been set correctly in Kudocs. This is a administrative change in Kudocs only. If you need to edit the actual details about a share class that is a legal change to the company’s articles of association and is a different process.
To make an administrative change, you just need to go the Shares & Shareholders page, and {View} the share class in question. Then just follow the appropriate steps. Please always read the guidance at the top of the page to make sure you understand the changes you are making.

What name should I use for a share class? We cannot give legal advice about what share class name to use (and if creating a new share class, you should use the “Create new share class” tool instead). However, one important point to note is that you should not add “shares” to the end of the share class name. This is added automatically by Kudocs (and by Companies House in any filings). So call your shares (e.g.) “Ordinary”, not “Ordinary Shares”.
Why does Kudocs not pull through the details of voting rights and dividend rights that attach to a share class (when onboarding an existing company)? Information about share classes (share class particulars or share class details) is stored by Companies House as just a text field. Companies House does not require specific details of whether the share class has voting or dividend rights. Kudocs, however, does – as it uses that information to run voting processes and calculate dividend entitlements. So when a company is added to Kudocs via onboarding you will need to tell Kudocs if a share class has voting and/or dividend rights. It is very easy to do and you can always edit the share class details (see above) if this was not set up correctly in the first place.
